(3) Maddie’s Mix – YouTube

In reflection of my current professional presentation experiences within my academic journey, aside from directly in the classroom and solely among a peer audience, I have landed focus on two primary opportunities. The first being within a Management Capstone course that resulted in a group presentation provided to WCU College of Business (COB) partners within the WNC region. No material has been provided to exhibit the findings, outcomes, and deliverables of this event, as non-disclosure agreements have been enforced. Essentially, my team and I embarked on a semester long research initiative to generate ideas for local economic stimulation and promotion of small business creation, retention, and expansion within the WNC region. This was then distributed/presented to a panel of local business partners from Southwestern Community College and Jackson County Economic Development Center.

The second entails a pitch competition hosted by WCU’s COB. This presentation was given to a panel of judges, comprised of local business owners/investors. The materials for this presentation have been provided. In addition, a personal redaction of the presentation can be found on my YouTube Playlist.

These experiences enhanced my professional development, through dress, speaking, and body language, as they provided an atmosphere of heightened intensity and higher stakes than the traditional classroom atmosphere.

The alternate video presented on my YouTube Playlist serves as a means of exploration. This form of video generation and presentation is new to me. This allowed me to explore new innovations and technologies and mesh those with my own aptitude for research and learning about new subject areas. The chosen topic reflects a specific exploration point for my semester long study on career aspirations/hypothetical business applications of May’s Rentals. The digitalized manner of this video gives way to heightened level of professionalism within the flow and manner of delivery. This initiative has left me with alternate ways to convey professionalism through varying modes of presenting.
